Testimonials

What a great time we had. Good wind,  good drinks, good snacks, & good company. My family was quite surprised. Cruising on a large Sailboat around the lake.  We come up here quite a bit and we can't wait to come back. I don't fish so it's great to have another activity sthat involves being on the lake.

My family has had a cabin up here since the 90s. This is the first time I've gone sailing. What a experience! The boat was amazing and well taken care of. It gave me such a different perspective on our little town. . The captain was crazy enough to let me drive.

For those seeking a more exclusive experience, we offer private sails at $399, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful waters of Big Bear with just your chosen group. If you're interested in learning to sail, our comprehensive sailing lessons are available for $279. For a more immersive experience, consider our all-day sail option priced at $699, perfect for a full day of adventure on the water. Whatever your sailing desires, Sailing Big Bear has the right option for you.
  • Is it customary to tip the captain ?
Yes, Well, it's a good question. Think of it this way. someone takes your food order and brings it back to you. It's a tipped position. Now they do some prep work but they have a lot of help The captain, readies the boat (the engine, the sails, stocks drinks and snacks, cleans up the deck/cockpit) then takes you out sailing, He tells you about the local area, teaches you a little about the boat and how to sail, al the while he makes sure everyone is safe and comfy. So I'll ask you , "would it be polite to tip the person that you sent 3 hours with?" The quick answer is.... it's not mandatory but greatly appreciated
  • Does Sailing Big Bear offer discounted rates for children's day and sunset sails?
Yes, Sailing Big Bear offers children's discounted rates on day and sunset sails. It costs $80 for kids to enjoy these experiences with professionally captained boats on stunning Big Bear waters. Kids can have an unforgettable adventure at a great rate, whether it's a family day or a serene evening sail.
  • What should I bring for Sailing?
Think comfort, safety, and style! Wear a hat, sunscreen, comfy clothes, and white-soled shoes. Bring drinks and snacks to enhance your adventure. If it's later in the day or autumn, pack a jacket. Most importantly, bring good vibes for an epic adventure on Big Bear’s waters!
  • How can I find SBB, and where should I park upon arrival?
We is located on the north side of Big Bear Lake, while Big Bear Lake & City is situated on the south side. We are approximately 15 minutes from Pine Knot Road, near "The Village." For precise directions, please check Google Maps for John's Fawn Marina in Fawnskin. Upon arrival, you will see a dirt road on the left side; follow this road and park in any available space. After parking, walk down to the docks to begin your sailing adventure. If you have any difficulties or need further assistance, feel free to contact us directly.
  • Will there be others on our sail?
If you booked a private then obviously NO. if you just book less than 4 seats than maybe. In all our years, everyone it out to have a good time. so mixing groups usually works out wonderfully 99% of the time.
  • Will We Get Wet?
Only If you jump overboard 🤣Passenger safety is our top priority. Our crew, trained in maritime safety and first aid, are like sea superheroes. Each vessel has life jackets, emergency communication devices, and top-notch navigation systems. Pre-sail safety briefings ensure everyone's prepared. In rare emergencies, our crew is ready for quick rescues. We blend fun and safety for a carefree Big Bear cruise. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
  • Can We help sail the boat?
Yes, We love group participation. Take the helm, grind the winches, Trim the sails. we will teach you while having a great time
  • Can I bring my pet on a sailing tour?
As much as we love animals, there really is not enough room for them to roam on our boats. Sailing on Big Bear's beautiful waters requires a safe and comfortable environment for all our passengers, and the limited space on board doesn't allow pets to move around freely. We recommend arranging for pet care while you enjoy our Day Sails, Private Sails, Sailing Lessons, or Sunset Sails. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
  • What restroom facilities are available on board ?
We strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the water. While we do have an enclosed porta potty on board for emergencies, we highly recommend that you use the restroom facilities on land before embarking on your sail. This ensures maximum comfort and convenience throughout your tour.

 Safety Check

After decades of cruising and racing aboard hundreds of types of boats, we have sought out this specific boat that all have the same thing in common, extremely stable and maneuverable, safe, comfortable, modern, and a blast to sail. We take great pride in the quality and spend many hours every year ensuring they are mechanically safe and sound.

We shouldn’t need any of this equipment on your sail, but if we do, the following equipment is on board. Life Jacket, Fire extinguishers, VHF radio, Throwable  flotation
